Ruby rose hot chocolate

Ruby rose hot chocolate

If you’re looking for a romantic, indulgent and super simple treat, ruby rose hot chocolate is a winner. This is brilliant for Valentine’s day, to celebrate anniversaries or any special occasion really.

This softly feminine, elegant hot chocolate is delicious. The ruby chocolate works so well with rose water, both a little floral which makes for a really interesting and satisfying drink. This recipe is made in minutes and with one a handful of ingredients is a speedy treat to whip up.

If you’ve never tried ruby chocolate before, it’s faintly sweet and sour and has a berry-like taste, which makes it perfect to pair with rose. Sometimes I also add crushed freeze dried raspberries on the top of the hot chocolate.  This is particularly yummy.

Ingredients

500ml milk of your choice (I use semi skimmed)

125g ruby chocolate chips (I use Callebaut, the melt so well)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp rose water

pinch of salt

Few drops pink food colouring (optional)

Dried, edible rose petals to garnish (optional)

Serves 2-3 glasses

Method for ruby rose hot chocolate

This is an easy, but joyfully indulgent recipe to put together.

Add in all the ingredients, the milk, chocolate, salt, vanilla extract and rose water to a pan on a medium heat. Whisk gradually to break up to help melt the chocolate.

When the hot chocolate mixture begins to steam, before it starts to simmer, turn it off the heat. Give it a final whisk and then serve in glasses.  At this stage, if you want to bring out a more intense pink shade, add in a little food colouring. Or leave as it is. Entirely up to you.

To serve, top with whipped cream and marshmallows or simply sprinkle on edible rose petals for an elegant look. Whatever you fancy.

Enjoy straight away.
